Connecticut food pantries see growing demand as families face high grocery prices
As grocery prices remain high and household budgets are stretched, more families across Connecticut are turning to food pantries for help. Connecticut Foodshare says 1 in 7 people in the state, about 560,000 people, are facing hunger. The organization has also seen increased demand at its mobile food pantries. “We definitely have seen a rise in the number of people visiting the mobile food pantries,” said Sulema DePeyster, individual giving manager at Connecticut Foodshare.
