Rod Stewart cancels US tour dates after coronary stent procedure
Rod Stewart has undergone a coronary stent procedure and will cancel the remaining dates of his current US tour, including a six-date Las Vegas residency, according to a statement posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday.
Stewart had already cancelled two shows — in Cincinnati on Sunday and Cleveland on Tuesday — citing what was described at the time as 'an unforeseen but minor medical procedure.'
The subsequent Instagram statement said Stewart 'has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure' and that doctors are 'pleased with his recovery,' adding that he 'has returned to his normal daily activities.'
On medical advice, Stewart will spend four weeks recuperating before returning to the stage, making him unable to fulfil 11 remaining US tour dates.
The statement said information about affected performances would be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.
Stewart also has three dates scheduled in Mexico in September, for which tickets were still on sale at the time of reporting.
- No independent medical comment or confirmation from named doctors is included in the source.
- The total number of US dates cancelled beyond the two already dropped is not individually itemised.
- No detail is provided on refund or exchange arrangements for ticket holders.
- The status of the Mexico September dates — whether they will proceed — is not confirmed.
