She was born to Leo J. and Philomena M. Smith on November 7, 1941, in Camden, New Jersey, and was raised in Westmont, New Jersey, according to the notice. She graduated from Saint Mary of the Angels Academy and attended nursing school at Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
She moved to Westport in 1975 and worked as a nurse at Norwalk Hospital, in the Westport public school system, and for several home healthcare companies, the notice states. She returned to school to earn bachelor's and master's degrees at Sacred Heart University, then taught home healthcare at Western Connecticut State University, retiring recently.
The notice states she was a parishioner at Saint Luke's Church for 51 years, where she taught catechism, served as a lector and assisted with charitable efforts until she was physically unable to attend mass.
She married Timothy Weiss of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on June 5, 1965, after they met dancing, according to the notice. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 2, at St. Luke's Church in Westport, with burial private, the notice states. It asks that donations in remembrance be considered for the Regional Hospice of Danbury.
