Ramon Tejada-Grullon, 29, of North Bergen, New Jersey, was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft after police alleged he intercepted, endorsed, and mobile-deposited a $2,608.34 check intended for another person, Westport police said.
North Bergen man charged with stealing $2,608 check via mobile deposit
Ramon Tejada-Grullon, 29, of North Bergen, New Jersey, was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft after police alleged he intercepted, endorsed, and mobile-deposited a $2,608.34 check intended for another person, Westport police said.
The alleged victim reported the incident at Westport police headquarters on May 14, according to police. Investigators determined the check had been deposited to a bank account belonging to Tejada-Grullon.
A warrant was issued for Tejada-Grullon's arrest. He turned himself in at police headquarters on Aug. 11 and was released on $5,000 bond.
He is due in Superior Court in Stamford on Aug. 25, according to court records. Both charges are felonies under Connecticut law.
