Burning Man organizers are offering a limited number of $550 admission tickets to Black Rock City, Nevada, bundled with Burner Express Bus travel from Reno or San Francisco, according to SFGate. Standard tickets to the weeklong festival in the Black Rock Desert can cost close to $1,000.

Context

A Burning Man spokesperson told SFGate that the promotion targets last-minute attendees willing to forgo driving. 'We know that the decision to participate in Black Rock City can happen at the last minute, so we're making a limited number of $550 lower-priced Get the Gift tickets available to participants traveling to BRC as part of a Burner Express Bus (BXB) bundle,' the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the Burner Express Bus program is also framed as an environmental measure: 'The BXB program makes it easier and more affordable to get to Black Rock City, while helping reduce the environmental impact of travel — easing traffic and decreasing the number of vehicles on the roads.'

In the prior year, organizers introduced a sliding-scale pricing system intended to have higher-income attendees pay more in order to subsidize lower ticket prices, which ranged from $550 to $650, according to the source.

All Perspectives
Burning Man organizers: A spokesperson said the promotion is aimed at attendees who decide to attend at the last minute and are willing to use the Burner Express Bus, describing the bundle as both more affordable and less environmentally harmful by reducing the number of vehicles traveling to the event.
